The Art of Designing Your Life

I met a bright bubbly girl at Tony Robbins’ Date with Destiny who ran a day spa in the Queensland Hinterland.  I asked her what her secret was for living with passion.  She said “I manifest everything that I want by asking the universe for it.”  I was fascinated.  I too was a manifester, a believer in The Secret and metaphysics, but she seemed to be taking it to another level.  We proceeded into the auditorium for the seminar and she said “when they play the table tennis ball game, watch me and copy what I do.  You have to believe it will come true and it will.” I was intrigued to say the least.  Not only did I not have a clue as to what the table tennis ball game was, but I wondered what we were about to do together.  Shortly there after, I was introduced to the game. In a stadium full of 5000 people someone’s number was about to be plucked from the spinning sphere containing all the table tennis balls.  The lucky person then got to go on stage and win a substantial prize by spinning the prize wheel.  Before the prize wheel was spun the compare asked the lucky soul what they really wanted from the wheel.

So, lucky person number 1 asks for the around the world trip for two (which was available on the prize wheel).  The crowd goes wild, jumping up and down on seats, yelling “spin the wheel”.  I look across to the bubbly girl, knowing that I was supposed to copy her, and I see her standing peacefully amongst the mayhem with her palms open to the ceiling, eyes closed, willing the lucky person to win the round the world trip.  I joined in with her, and guess what, they did win the trip and the next three people selected all got what they wanted as well.  Amazing!!!

I was a true believer (I was already a convert to this way of thinking but her action based approach, really appealed to me).  We promptly ran across the room to each other and started jumping up and down with delight after each lucky person won their prize.

So, the universe does deliver on what you want.  But you need to be really clear on what it is that you want.  In the story above, we were absolutely clear what we wanted and we manifested it.  So what is it you really want?

I love my ‘designing my dream life’ time that I allocate to myself every 6-12 months.  I go off to the bedroom, spread out my notepapers, get my good pen ready and let creativity flow.  However, living with a man who has trouble with this concept I can fully understand if you find it difficult.  Therefore my top tips for Designing Your Dream Life are:

Designing Your Dream Life Top 5 Tips

  1. Think of the key areas in your life that you would like to change or improve.  They might be: career, relationships, friendships, contribution to society, financial, health, spirituality…
  2. At the top of the page write ‘My Ideal Life’ by YOURNAME and date it. Then write each key area as a heading with lots of space underneath
  3. Jot down some positive points on how you would like life to look in each area (make sure you are in the positive i.e. ‘I would like my job to be challenging and fulfilling’ NOT the negative ‘I wish my job wasn’t so boring all the time’)
  4. Now taking those positive points write down a story of how life is now that all that you wish for has come true; see one of mine from a while ago that I manifested within 2 weeks!
  5. Make sure you have written it as though it has already happened and include as much detail as possible.  Now do this for every key area in your life.

I am a key part of the team and highly appreciated and valued.

The offices are neat and modern and full of warmth and light.

The equipment is modern and user friendly

It is a small team environment

I support clients as opposed to working directly with them

I grow as a person working there and I contribute to the business and the community at some level

I am sought out for this role by people who realise my potential. This is a career and I love going to work. I leave my job at the end of the working day and do not take it home with me.

What it would not include:

Too many menial tasks.

Not include accounts work other than basic entry

Suffocating hierarchies - bureaucracy

Slow processes to do things that hold back action

Enjoy!
